Paul Whitmore Sheldon, 83, of Salisbury, died on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Wicomico Nursing Home. Born in Salisbury on March 23, 1931, he was the son of the late Paul and Edna Sheldon. He lived in several states as a child, but returned to live in Salisbury with his parents and graduated from Wicomico High in 1949. He worked with his father at Willies Fair until joining the Air Force, serving 2 years in Alaska. He returned to Salisbury to marry Mary Juanita (Nita) Sheldon in 1953 and lived in Minneapolis, Minn. until discharged. After returning to Salisbury, he worked at Campbell Soup until the plant closed. Mr. Sheldon was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church for nearly 60 years and served on many committees and volunteered wherever needed. He sang in the church choir until his illness. He was a lifetime volunteer at PRMC, having served over 7000 hours. He was a visiting member of Mended Hearts and former member of the Peninsulair’s Chorus. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary “Nita” Sheldon; two sons, David and his wife Terri of VA and Kevin and his wife Mako of Niigata, Japan; two grandsons and three great-grandson, all of VA; and a brother, Howard Sheldon of Salisbury. A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Bethesda United Methodist Church in Salisbury. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Rev. Dr. Dan Rich and Rev. Brian Albert will officiate. Burial will be in Wicomico Memorial Park.
