Maude Howard Duncan, 85, passed away peacefully at Hartley Hall Nursing Home in Pocomoke City on Wednesday, November 11, 2015. Born August 23, 1930 in Pocomoke City, she was a daughter of the late Willis and Bertha Custis Howard. Mrs. Duncan was a devoted mother and homemaker who will be remembered for her homemade pies. After raising her three children, she worked for the A&P stores for many years and later retired from First Shore Federal Savings and Loan. She is survived by her two sons, A. Thomas Duncan, III of St. Michaels, and W. Patrick Duncan of Pocomoke City; three grandsons, Connor, Tyler and Max Duncan; a sister-in-law, Laura Belle Gordy of Onley, VA; a brother-in-law William “Billy” Duncan of Gainesville, FL and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Alfred Thomas “Al” Duncan September 15, 2015; her daughter, Suzanne Duncan Dembart, in 1989 and her sister Grace Conaway. A funeral service, officiated by the Rev. Bob Blevins, will be held at Noon on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the Holloway Funeral Home, P.A. in Pocomoke City. Family and friends will gather for a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the First Baptist Cemetery.
