Patrick G. Congro, 76, of Salisbury, Maryland, died Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Brooklyn, NY, in 1938, he was the son of the late Basil and Mary Congro. Pat was a U.S. Marine Corp. Corporal serving during the Viet Nam Conflict in the Helicopter Division. Following his service to his country, Pat joined the Texaco Corp. in the sales division, was marketing vice president for Cray Oil Co. in Walpole, NH, Cato Oil Co. in Salisbury, and Peninsula Oil Co. in Seaford, DE, then owned and operated The Oil Spot in Salisbury and Seaford. In 2003 Pat was named one of the Business Advisory Council’s Businessmen of the Year, published in the Wall Street Journal. He was a member of the Lions Club for most of his life, joining in Walpole in 1976, and was awarded the Melvin Harris Award, the highest honor for Lion’s Club members. He was an avid golfer, once scoring a hole-in-one, a Corvette enthusiast, and a NASCAR and New York Giants fan. However his greatest joy was his service to his family and community. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, who will be greatly missed. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Diane; his children: Patricia (Aquilina) and husband, Louis; Michael and wife, Deborah; David; and Stephen; and grandchildren, Corey Gragg, Caroline Congro, and Patrick Aquilina; brothers Stephen, Vito, Basil, and Louis; sisters, Mary Bligh and Caroline Russo; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 8, 2015 at 1:00 pm at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Salisbury. Visitation will be Sunday, June 7, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Holloway Funeral Home.
