Margaret “Peggy” Sterling 94 of Salisbury passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. Born and a lifetime resident of Quantico, MD, she was the daughter of the late Clifford A. and Sadie Holt Taylor. She enjoyed being a resident at Lakeside Assisted Living at Mallard Landing for the last 9 years. Mrs. Sterling retired from the U.S. Postal Service with 42 years of service with the last 13 years as postmaster in Tyaskin, MD. During World War II she was employed as an instructress and forelady at the DuPont Co. in Seaford, DE. She was a lifetime and current oldest member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Quantico. She was also a member of the National Association of Retired Postmasters in the U.S., the National League of Retired Postmasters, and a lifetime member of the National Disabled American Veteran’s Auxiliary, VFW Post 8276. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Peggy Anne Sterling Mitchell and loving son-in-law Bob Mitchell of Salisbury; a sister, Emilyne T. Couch of Salisbury and a brother, Richard B. Taylor of Ocean City, MD and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Sterling was a very devoted and loving wife and mother, who cared, shared and was always there. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Tony R.(TR) Sterling, Jr; beloved son, Tony R. Sterling, III; 2 brothers, Clifford A. Taylor and Orlando (Bunk) Taylor and a sister, Eleanor T. Horsey. A funeral service will be held Monday, February 2, 2015, at 2:00 pm at Holloway Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The Rev. Nathaniel Pierce will officiate. Interment will be in Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Philips Episcopal Church, PO Box 92, Quantico, MD 21856.
