Harvey Lynch

Harvey L Lynch, Sr., 86, died on Friday, November 28, 2014, at his Pocomoke City home surrounded by his loving family. Born January 6, 1928 Worcester County, he was a son of the late Harvey L. and Alice Elliott Lynch. Harvey was a member of Lynnhaven Baptist Church and the Chincoteague Decoy and Carvers Association. Following his service in the Merchant Marines he worked as a waterman before beginning a career with the City of Pocomoke that would last for 35 years, starting in the public works department and retiring as the Waste Water Treatment Supervisor. He also served as an umpire for the Pocomoke Little League and men’s baseball and softball leagues for over 38 years. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Pauline Mills Lynch, having celebrated their anniversary the day before his death; two sons, Harvey Lee Lynch, Jr. and his wife Joanne of Pocomoke, Robert Wayne Lynch of Salisbury; one daughter, Cheryl Dawn Fisher and her husband Robbie of Pocomoke; three grandsons, Eddie Lynch, Drew Fisher and Chase Fisher; three granddaughters, Kim Lynch Smullen and her husband Clint, Stacy Vachon and her husband Aaron, and Shelby Morris and her husband Randy; four great grandchildren, D. Clint Smullen, Tanner Grayson Smullen, G. Quinn Smullen and Olivia Vachon; one brother, Richard A. Lynch, Sr. and his wife Alberta of Snow Hill; a sister-in-law, Violet Lynch of Snow Hill and many special friends along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward “Bud” Lynch. A funeral service officiated by Rev. Kerry Hinton and Rev. Barry Devine will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Lynnhaven Baptist Church at 1PM, where there will be a visitation for family and friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow in the First Baptist Cemetery and a reception will follow the interment back at the Lynnhaven fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
