Joseph E. Strogas, 83, of Salisbury, died on June 7, 2014 at Anchorage Nursing Home. Joseph was the only child of Walter and Margaret Strogas. He was born November 22, 1930 in Philadelphia, PA. Joseph was very proud of his Lithuanian heritage and that his family was able to start a new life in America after World War I. Mr. Strogas had an interior decorating business for years in Philadelphia and later in Turnersville, NJ before retiring to Salisbury in the late 1990’s. He was preceded in death by his parents and his companion of 50 years, John Erb who died January 6, 2014. He leaves behind two cousins, he will be missed by his neighbors and friends and his two dogs, Zoey and Cookie. The memorial mass will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with his childhood friend, retired priest Father Boniface von Nell, OSB conducting the mass. He will be buried next to his parents in Holy Cross Cemetery in Philadelphia, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Wicomico County, 5130 Citation Drive, Salisbury, MD 21804.
