Gerald Allen Elkins, 65, died on November 28, 2013 after a short illness. Born in Richlands, VA, he was the son of the late Hazel Owens Elkins and Winfred Elkins. He is survived by his wife of twenty-five years, Amy Susan Hasson, three sons, Anthony John Elkins (Kristy), Daniel Carl Elkins (Brooke), and Mitchell Shanahan Elkins; and one daughter, Megan Elizabeth Elkins. He was beloved “Grandpa Beach” to three grandchildren: Dillon Connor Elkins, Adam Daniel Elkins and Adriana Jane Elkins, and is survived by two siblings, Wayne Mitchell Elkins (Gale) and Patricia Gail Elmos (Peter), and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 5 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. On Friday, December 6 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., a memorial happy hour will be held at Ryan’s Daughter Restaurant, 600 E. Belvedere Avenue, Baltimore. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 7 at 10 a.m. in the Marikle Chapel of the Annunciation at Notre Dame of Maryland University, 4701 N. Charles Street, Baltimore.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gerald A. Elkins Memorial Scholarship for Urban and Environmental Planning at the Salisbury University Foundation, Inc.
