Betty Lucille Howard Scott, 82, of Delmar, Maryland, passed away on Thursday, April 23rd, 2015, at Coastal Hospice By the Lake. Born November 20, 1932, in Marion Station, she was the daughter of the late Robert Paul Howard and Mary Maddox Howard. Betty devoted her life to Christ, her family, and to children. She was a member of 3C USA Church for the past 12 years. She also served as a 5th grade Sunday School teacher at Delmarva Evangelistic Church for over 30 years. She was loved by all of her students and remembered especially for her delicious brownie treats. Over the years, she also cared for many children in her home. Above all, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the center of her life. She tirelessly gave of her talents, strength, and love to all of them. She is survived by three daughters: Beverly Brumbley(Thomas) of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Bonnie Townsend (Ranny) of Salisbury, and Paula Rittenhouse (Michael) of Delmar; 6 grandchildren: Wendy Oswald, Lindsey van Niekerk, Kasi Lyndaker, Justin Rittenhouse, Jared Rittenhouse, and Michaela Mohammadioun; 8 great grandchildren: Meghan Poole, Vincent Poole, Nathan Poole, Haylee Rittenhouse, Maya van Niekerk, Lilyan Lyndaker, Abigail Rittenhouse, Emery Rittenhouse, and one more on the way; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Edwin Kelly Scott, who passed away in May of last year, she was preceded in death by her parents, sister, 2 brothers, and a granddaughter. Monday, April 27, 2015, visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at 3C USA Church, formerly The Tabernacle, 38238 Old Stage Road, Delmar, DE. On Tuesday, April 28, a celebration of life service will be conducted at 1:00 p. m., also at 3C USA, with visitation beginning at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury. Officiating will be Rev. Thomas Brumbley and Rev. Michael Rittenhouse, with special sentiments by Ranny Townsend.
