Christopher Jameson Stephens Gaul (“Jessie” to his family and friends), 22, of Newport Beach, California, passed away on June 17, 2014 in California. A native of Salisbury, MD, Jessie was born on April 6th, 1992 at PRMC to Dr. James Richard Gaul and Lynn Karen Stephens Gaul. Jessie was a 2010 graduate of the Salisbury School and was attending Orange Coast College. He spent several summers particpating in the La Merced Medical Mission traveling to Nicaragua which inspired his dream of becoming a trauma surgeon. He also photographed pro surfers with his burgeoning company Full Grizzly Photography and was part owner of ABC Surf Shop in Newport Beach, California. An avid surfer himself, Jessie never felt better than when he was in the waves. He was also an experienced hunter, an accomplished marksman and a member of the Salisbury Gun Club. Jessie had a generous heart, was a well known lover of cats and dogs, and a mentor to recovering addicts. Bob Marley, one of Jessie’s favorite artists, said a man’s greatness is measured “in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively.” By that measurement, Jessie was pretty great. And one gnarly Ming. In addition to his parents he is survived by his beloved grandmother, Jean H. Stephens, and sister, Jamie Lynn Flacco and her husband Jordan of Tuscaloosa, AL. A memorial service will be held Saturday June 28th, 2014 at 11:00 at Asbury United Methodist Church, Camden Ave., Salisbury, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the La Merced Medical Mission, c/o Peninsula Plastic Surgery, 314 W Carroll Street, Salisbury, MD 21801. Arrangments are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home, PA, 501 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, MD 21804. Please visit www.hollowayfh.com to express condolences to the family.
