Marie Shugert

On Tuesday, April 1, 2014, Marie C. Shugert departed this life, entering her eternal home with her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. The daughter of John Cecchini, an Italian immigrant and Marie Lescanyi Cecchini, an Austro-Hungarian immigrant, Mrs. Shugert was predeceased by her parents and all of her brothers and sisters: Erminia (Emily), Helena, Catherine, Charles, Fred and Anne. Mrs. Shugert was also predeceased by three husbands, William A. Price (1968), David A. Walker (1989) and Dr. Guy S. Shugert (1999). Mrs. Shugert is survived by her daughter, Charlote A. Price of Beaver, PA; her son, John Price and his wife, Nora, also of Beaver, PA; and her daughter, Janice Davis and her husband, Herman of Pittsville, MD. Grandchildren include Tommy Keeling, Juneau, AK; Rebecca Rocereto, Monaca, PA; Clint Davis (Hayden) Midlothian, VA; Mark Davis, Salisbury, MD; and Benjamin Davis, Pittsville, MD. Mrs. Shugert also has 4 great-grandchildren: Jessica Keeling, Juneau, AK and Allie, Hunter and Alexis Davis of Midlothian, VA. Mrs. Shugert leaves behind a very special family of kind and loving in-laws: Steve and Jerdy (Davis) Heatwole, Jason Heatwole, Bobby and Lindsay (Heatwole) McCauley and Sophie McCauley all of Pittsville, MD. Mrs. Shugert was the consummate homemaker, making clothing, refinishing and reupholstering furniture, gardening, baking pies and breads from scratch and welcoming all to her bountiful dinner table. She constantly pursued the development of new skills taking classes such as typing, computer use, reupholstering, pottery and Braille, eventually becoming a Braille transcriptionist certified by the Library of Congress. In Beaver, PA she volunteered at the local hospital, the Helen Keller Society, Friendship Ridge Retirement Home, Consumer Protection Agency, and was active in various church organizations over the span of her lifetime. Upon relocating to Salisbury, MD, she volunteered regularly in the centralized scheduling department of PRMC for several years. A member of Allen Memorial Baptist Church, Salisbury, MD, she appreciated and enjoyed her adult Sunday School class filled with kind and compassionate friends. A private service will be held at a later date when Mrs. Shugert’s remains are interred at the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park in Rochester, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Allen Memorial Baptist Church – Missions, 1313 Snow Hill Rd., Salisbury, MD 21804.
