Orville retired as administrator of Salisbury Nursing Home in 1988. He previously had worked for NASA. He was a US Navy World War II veteran and a member of Park Seventh Day Adventist Church. His passion was his church family and sharing his faith. He is survived by 3 children, Mark D. Dix of Salisbury, April Kober & husband, Robert of Delmar, and Robin Young & husband, Robert of Collegedale, TN; 6 grandchildren, Sharon, Justin, Erin, Ryan, Nikolaus and Malena; 5 great grandchildren; 2 sister-in-laws, June Blessing of Annapolis, and Doris Dix of Pocomoke; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Mae Bailey Dix, and a brother, William S. Dix, Jr. A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 4, 2016 at 11:00 am at Springhill Memory Gardens near Hebron with Rev. O. Kenneth Scheller officiating. There will be a visitation at Holloway Funeral Home from 9:30 – 10:30 am. Contributions may be made in his memory to the current presidential campaign of Dr. Ben Carson.
