Shirley Dashiell

Shirley Dashiell, 84, of Salisbury, died Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake. Born in Nanticoke, MD she was the daughter of the late Captain James Price Willing and Nola Dunn Willing. Mrs. Dashiell was a longtime member of Asbury United Methodist Church and was a volunteer with the Opportunity Shop. She, along with her husband, were adult leaders for a number of youth programs at the church. She was on the board of the Salvation Army, she was especially involved with giving gifts at Christmas for families in need. She was a volunteer at the Junior Board Shop at PRMC and was instrumental in the organization of Maple Shade. Shirley cared deeply for everyone she knew ,whether you were her family, friend, or a member of the community she was always willing to help someone in need. She had the kindest of hearts. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. The joy of her life was found in taking care of her family. No birthday, holiday or meaningful event could pass with out some form of celebration. She will be missed by many. She is survived by her sons: Donald Lee Dashiell, Jr. and wife, Debbie, Steven Price Dashiell and John Christopher Dashiell and wife, Kim all of Salisbury; sisters, Judy Willing of Salisbury and Bert Butler and husband, Col. Walter Butler of Dover; grandchildren: Donald Lee Dashiell III and wife, Gina, Spencer Adam Dashiell and wife, Becky, Madlyn Joyce Dashiell, Gerrit Steven Dashiell, Olivia Christine Dashiell and fiancé Jim Bedwell, Emily Dashiell Byron and husband, Josh, J. Christopher Dashiell and Brader Lee Dashiell; great-grandchildren, Caleb Dashiell, Everett Dashiell and Reed Christopher Byron and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Donald Lee Dashiell, Sr. and grandson, Willing Price Dashiell. A service will be held Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Asbury United Methodist Church where friends may call one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Shirley to Coastal Hospice, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802 or Salvation Army, 407 Oak St., Salisbury, MD 21804 or Asbury United Methodist Church, 1401 Camden Ave., Salisbury, MD 21801.
